Feature Deep Dive

Collections that
build themselves.

Define rules once — tag, duration, date, location, favorites — and Rushes keeps your collections up to date automatically as new footage comes in.

Dynamic filters for your video library

The Problem

Manual folders break down fast. You shoot new footage, dump it somewhere, and your carefully organized structure gets messy. Or you need clips that match multiple criteria — B-roll from last month that's under 30 seconds — and there's no good way to slice your library that way.

How Smart Collections Work

Smart Collections are saved filter rules that automatically include any clip matching your criteria. They update in real time as you import new footage or as ML tagging processes clips.

Available Filter Rules

  • Tag: Filter by ML-generated tags like "B-roll," "interview," "outdoor," "food," "screen recording"
  • Duration: Clips shorter than 10 seconds, longer than 2 minutes, or any range you set
  • Date: Footage from a specific shoot day, date range, or relative period (last 7 days, this month)
  • Location: Clips filmed at or near a geographic location (requires GPS metadata)
  • Favorites: Only clips you've starred

Combine with AND/OR Logic

Rules can be combined for precise filtering. "B-roll AND outdoor AND filmed this month" narrows your library to exactly what you need. Switch to OR logic when you want broader results — "interview OR talking head" catches both categories.

Use Cases

  • Project prep: Create a collection for each project with date and location filters matching your shoot schedule
  • Selects workflow: Combine "favorites" with a tag filter to build a selects reel from specific footage types
  • Stock footage library: Build persistent collections like "all outdoor B-roll under 30 seconds" that grow as you add footage

Non-Destructive

Smart Collections are views, not folders. Your files stay exactly where they are on disk. Nothing is copied, moved, or renamed. Remove a clip from a collection and the original file is untouched.
